I became a therapist because my own therapy changed me profoundly. Through therapeutic engagement I learnt about myself in ways that helped me understand my drives and responses. After a long career in the arts as a designer and maker I decided to study counselling, and got my Bachelors degree. At the same time I trained with Lifeline as a telephone and face to face counsellor and began working there. Over the last five years I have worked with The Cabin Sydney, an outpatient addiction practice, where I ran a family program and individually counselled those suffering from addiction and members of their family.
I’m passionate about supporting people through challenging times; anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, “stuckness”, uncertainty, dis-ease, self doubt and other problems with living. I believe that I bring a lifetime of both personal and professional experiences that have broadened and honed my ability to help people see differently. This fresh perspective brings new understandings that can help shift mental blocks and create a sense of self-empowerment, which is needed to create change.
